RENTING TIPS:

Renting is a flexible way of life that gives you the ability to accommodate your:

  • Job requirements i.e. transport, distance to your place of work etc...
  • Lifestyle i.e. restaurants/cafes in the area, shopping centres, health clubs, schools etc...
  • AND of course your income i.e. your ability to pay the upfront costs of starting a new tenancy, paying the rent, and paying your bills such as phone and electricity and any other bills you are responsible for during the term of the lease.

However, be sure that you fully understand your rights and obligations as a tenant at the beginning, during and end of a tenancy before signing the tenancy agreement, and ask questions and for advice on anything you don't understand.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN MOVING:

When moving from one property to another, it is an important that you consider some of the basic following tips to ease the stress of relocating:

  • In order to properly organise anything in your relocation process, you must be able to confirm a specific date for your move.
  • Once this date is confirmed, have a thorough clean out, sorting all unwanted belongings and donate them to charity, and/or arrange to have a garage sale. The money earned from the garage sales can ease  the burden on associated costs.
  • Arrange to rent storage space if required.
  • Book a revivalist company to transport your possessions.
  • Be sure to finalise all bills and disconnections.
  • When packing, be sure to clearly mark on each box what is contained inside for ease of unpacking at your new property.
  • When you finally move into your new property remember to:
    • Have all connections required commence from the date you have residency.
    • Advise your workplace, and any other organisation(s) of your new details.
    • Check with your shire council for garbage and recycling collection, and any water/sprinkling restrictions that may apply.
